Roots blowers (rotary piston blowers) are two-shaft rotary piston machines. Thanks to a synchronizing gear, the rotary pistons, which are supported in rolling bearings, run without touching each other. To avoid pressure losses and obtain a high efficiency, the rotary pistons – as in screw-type compressors – have as small a clearance as possible, which means that the distance between the pistons and the housing wall is also as small as possible.
